THOMAS ABBE, JR., son of Thomas and Sarah (Fairfield) Abbe,
born October 30, 1686, in Enfield, Conn.; died there 1759. He was
captain and then lieutenant (1714) of military companies. He resided
in Enfield, Conn. With his brother John and sisters Sarah Geer and
Tabitha Warner, he signed receipt for legacy from his grandfather,
Walter Fairfield, January 6, 1725-6. He was executor of the will of
his uncle, Obadiah Abbe, together with Elizabeth Warriner in 1732. Hiswill, made December 30 , 1758, probated April 18, 1759, mentions wife,Rebecca; children, Mary Bement, Sarah Parsons , Tabitha Pease, HannahPhelps, Thomas; grandchildren, Nathaniel and Eliphalet Chapin, Thoma s andElihu Geer. Son Thomas, executor.

Lieutenant-Colonel John Pitkin, a company raised for the reduction ofCrown Point. John Abbe w as also in Captain Slapp's Company, May, 1755.There was also a John Abbe in the 1st Regiment , 2d Company,Lieutenant-Colonel Israel Putnam, 1761, and one who served March 20 toAugust 27 , 1762, in same company. (Connecticut Historical SocietyCollections, IX, pages 240, 299; X, p ages 9, 69.) He was a Revolutionarysoldier, his name is on the list of men who marched from C onnecticuttowns to relief of Boston in the Lexington Alarm, 1775. He was a memberof the 2d Co mpany, 3d Regiment, Israel Putnam, Colonel, and ExperienceStorrs, Captain, which was recruite d in Windham County in April and May,1775. They marched in May to camps formed around Bosto n and werestationed during the siege in Putnam
Centre Division at Cambridge until the expiration of term of serviceDecember 10, 1775. In Jul y the Regiment was adopted as ''Continental,"and was engaged at the Battle of Bunker Hill. (S ome of these laterrecords may refer to his son John5.) See Connecticut in the Revolution,pag e 53, and Massachusetts Society Sons of the American Revolution, 1910volume. His will, made F ebruary 2, 1789, probated September 5, 1794,mentions his daughters, Rocelina Olmstead, Hanna h Terry, Submit Killam,Tabitha
Terry and sons John Abbe, 2d, and Daniel Abbe.
