Notes:

BIOGRAPHY: Ambrose was born and grew up in the state of Wuerttemberg in Germany where his
ancestors had lived for many generations. He and his brothers Georg and Joseph came to America
around the year 1849. The story told by family members is that they came through New York and
settled in Missouri. When they arrived there, one of the brothers was very sick. Either Georg or
Joseph decided to return to New York and established a clothing business there.
Ambrose settled in an area called "The Kessler Settlement" which was probably near Easton,
Missouri in Buchanan county. There he met and married his wife Marie Wiedmaier and raised his
family. When Marie died, he remarried Anna Maria Gerrer .

BIOGRAPHY: The 1860 and 1870 Census shows his name as Anthony. He grew up in Missouri and
then went to California on an immigrant work train. He worked for awhile in Asouza, California*. By
the 1890's he had moved to the Washington or Idaho area where he got married and was now using
the name Antone. He was living in Lincoln Co., Washington in 1900 where he had a homestead in an
area known as "Rock Hill" where he planned to farm. However, the area was not fit for farming, so he
moved his family to Clarkston, Washington. He owned many horses and used them on construction
projects such as road and bridge building. He helped build either the Monroe Street bridge or the
Sunset highway bridge over Hangman Creek in Spokane, Washington.
